Sainte-Radegonde Church

The Pays Royannais invites you to discover the magic of this site. 16 km from Royan, the church of Sainte-Radegonde, a building of great purity, stands in the light of the Saintonge region.

A square bell tower dominates the compact volume of the monument. Its nave, shortened in the 15th century, gives it its imposing silhouette. The fortifications which protected the church at the end of the Middle Ages add to the power of the building. The transept is flanked by apsidioles opening onto the arcatures of a semi-circular chevet. The arches of the portal are decorated with angels in adoration before the Paschal Lamb. 

Acrobats, figures on the capitals and representations of the Bestiary plunge us into the tangible world of a Romanesque space, thanks to major restoration work.
